About me

I’ve worked within mental health and voluntary sectors, in supportive and volunteer counselling roles since 1984. After many years volunteering as a counsellor with MIND, I decided to become accredited to offer professional counselling. I have a degree as an Integrative Counsellor. This means I am qualified in more than one approach, including person-centered, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy. I am an individual member BACP registered counsellor and work within its ethical guidelines, which I consider to be extremely important.

My experiences are varied and within these 25 years I have had the privilege to help people from diverse backgrounds, circumstances and needs. I have worked for the last five years at Mind as a telephone counsellor and a face to face counsellor in the long term counselling service. This has given me an experience of many difficult issues and I understand difficulties can happen to anyone at any stage of life. My background is in the creative industries, and where appropriate I like to work creatively with clients. I work in a collaborative way with the client and believe the therapeutic relationship is always important, whatever the approach. I work with the client in a supportive, and creative way to reach an understanding of a difficulty and hopefully create a way forward...

Whatever problems you are experiencing I can support you in a safe and confidential place. Some of the areas I have worked with include; abuse, abortion, anxiety, bereavement, career worries, depression, family worries, loss, relationships, rape, sexuality, stress, trauma.
