Couples Counselling is an effective way to help you feel better about your relationship. Couples Counselling allows you to deal with any negative feelings or behaviours you have within your relationship and helps to overcome your issues. It’s a talking therapy that allows you to talk about your problems and feelings together in a secure, supportive and dependable environment.
Talking therapy such as Counselling is ideal for relationships as at their core a relationship is about communication; and that’s not just talking! It’s how we listen and respond, it’s also our body language, actions and all the different forms of physical interaction and intimacy. Importantly it’s about communicating to ‘get your needs met’ and that’s both of your needs!
A Couples Counsellor is trained to listen with empathy (by putting themselves in your shoes). They can help you deal with any negative thoughts and feelings you have about your relationship. Counselling will be series of face to face sessions on a weekly basis for about 50 minutes at a time.
A Counsellor won’t tell you what to do, provide a “quick fix” or give you their personal opinions. They also wont tell you to if your right for each other or if you should separate. They will help you to improve your communication and never judge you.
