I am a qualified and experienced Psychodynamic Counsellor, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Integrative Psychotherapist and Couples Counsellor. I am trained in both brief and long term work. I offer a confidential and non-judgemental environment encouraging a safe space to enable you to explore and share difficult thoughts and memories.
Psychodynamic counselling is a talking therapy that helps you to understand why certain things are repeatedly difficult and distressing for you, thereby helping you to manage situations more effectively. The difficulties we have in the present have their roots in past experience, and we repeat these maladaptive patterns.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy looks at how we think about a situation and how this affects the way we react. In turn our actions can affect the way we think and feel. CBT is about teaching the clients to become their own therapist, with tasks and homework being an Integral part of this type of therapy.
Integrative counselling is a where I bring both Psychodynamic counselling and CBT together.
Whichever model is used, central to my working is that the 'relationship' is the key between myself and the client, in fostering a collaborative and trusting relationship together we can embark on a journey of exploration, compassion, understanding and acceptance.
I specialise in a number of issues including Couples and Relationships, Abuse, Anger management, Anxiety, Victim of Crime, Bereavement, Depression, Eating disorders, OCD, Phobias, Panic, Relationship issues, Self-esteem, Self-harm and work related issues.
