My name is Ronak, I am curious to meet you and really looking forward to supporting you through this journey.
I truly believe that therapy is a great tool which helps to support and overcome the difficulties and challenges that life throws at us; furthermore that a good client-therapist relationship is the foundation that helps create a positive outcome.
I understand it can be very difficult to open-up about intimate matters to someone you have never met before. I appreciate the difficulties, uncertainties and anxieties people may experience when starting therapy; and by providing a warm and safe space this will hopefully allow and enable you to explore yourself, your thoughts, ideas and beliefs in a non-judgemental atmosphere.
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I predominantly focus on your childhood and past experiences and together we look at how these experiences may be affecting you now. As a psychodynamic therapist, I believe it's important to revert back to childhood experiences to understand current issues and this, in turn, will enable progression and change. There may be times when you feel therapy becomes too challenging or stressful, and you wish to discontinue the sessions, but I would hope and believe that having a strong professional relationship will help you to overcome these feelings.
I am currently working towards my Masters in Psychodynamic Counselling and I have a broad range of experience in the field of Eating Disorders with a specific interest and understanding in Anorexia Nervosa. I have also worked with refugees and women who suffered from postnatal depression. Born in Germany, to Iranian parents, I grew up within two cultures. By working and studying in America and in the UK I have been able to extend my understanding of different cultures and religions. I am a native speaker of German and Farsi and can communicate in Dari if necessary.
