I am interested in helping people find their own solutions to difficulties they may be experiencing. The relationship created between us is central to providing a safe, confidential and caring space for them to explore what that difficulty means to them. The client is at the centre of the relationship and I always remember the courage exhibited by them.
I will try to help you find your own pathway through life’s difficulties, by committing to build a caring, collaborative and confidential relationship. Your experience of your life is at the centre of our work. Together we will aim for you to gain a better understanding of your world.
I am currently training at the University of Roehampton to gain a MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. The integrative theoretical training enables me to practice in response to my clients’ needs, in the moment. I try to see each client as an individual who has many different aspects of their lives and responds to each of these in potentially differing ways. When there is a difficulty that makes a client feel “stuck”, my aim is to help them free themselves so that they can recapture a sense of movement. It is the capacity for fluidity and acceptance of it that I hope to bring to the therapeutic relationship.
I will provide an accepting, empathic environment within which the client can begin to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences. By the client looking at both past and present events and relationships, I aim to facilitate a greater understanding of the role they play in their own lives and knowledge of the abilities they already have that can help them find a more meaningful and personal path to take.
Having worked restoratively with people for the past seven years, I appreciate the value of self-knowledge that the client brings to the relationship and the courage it takes to share that with someone else. I am always amazed at how being listened to, and being heard, can truly impact on a person’s sense of self.
I work with improving self-knowledge, self-worth and self-confidence.
